There
was a closed Joint Court of
Justice hearing yesterday in the case against Parliamentarian Patrick
Illidge, who along with Jaap Van Den Heuvel and Theo Heyliger has
been implicated in the "Bada Bing" case.
The
hearing was based on the Landsverordening Vervolging Politieke
Gezagdragers Ordinance Prosecution Political Authority, a law that
came in to place following
the October 10th 2010 country status proclamation of
St Maarten which states that persons in political ofifce
including memers of
parliament, cannot be prosecuted like any other citizen.
Before
any person in political office
such as a Parliamentarian or Minister can be prosecuted, a hearing
must take place in the Joint Court. Which then decides whether a
prosecution can proceed. The verdict will be given at the end
December 2013
